Artist Statement
My first painting was a still life of a stuffed white cat beside a vase of lazy yellow flowers. As I looked at it, memories surfaced — the flowers near my grandmother’s window, the flowers on my aunt’s grave, the white cat resting on the edge of my father’s sofa. From that moment on, I became less interested in objects themselves and more concerned with the spirit they carry.
Faith sits at the center of my practice. I see evidence of the past and present constantly overlapping within my own narrative, and my paintings exist within that space. Faith, for me, is the belief that passion and purpose can coexist, even when fear urges compromise.
This body of work reflects moments shaped by memory rather than chronology. The light in these paintings is not simply illumination — it is witness, remembrance, and quiet persistence. Each work is an act of belief, a meditation on what lingers, and a reflection of the places where meaning continues to reside.
