At the second annual Atlanta Art Fair, Black Art in America (Booth B-05) presents a dynamic selection of seven artists whose voices together form a compelling narrative, shining light on artists from then and now. The presentation brings together rising voices, established figures, and rediscovered masters—showcasing the intergenerational threads that sustain and transform Black visual culture.
Among the featured artists are early-career talents Gerald Lovell and Khalif Thompson, whose creative journeys began gaining traction while at BAIA. Their presence alongside mid-career and established artists such as Ronald Walton, Jamaal Barber, Cedric Michael Cox, and BAIA founder Najee Dorsey underscores BAIA’s mission to champion artists at every stage of their trajectory.
The presentation also highlights the work of Michael Ellison, a master printmaker whose brilliance has previously remained underexposed. Ellison’s inclusion exemplifies BAIA’s role in uncovering cultural treasures, as his achievements in printmaking have left even fellow master printmakers in awe. By bringing his work forward, BAIA affirms its dedication to illuminating the careers of artists who have advanced their craft both technically and culturally.
Together, these artists embody a curatorial vision rooted in both discovery and stewardship. From nurturing new voices to showcasing mid-career artists and bringing overlooked gems into the light, Black Art in America positions itself as a beacon for talent in the art world at multiple levels.
Atlanta Art Fair returns to Pullman Yards this September 25–28, 2025 to build on the expansive momentum of the fair’s inaugural edition.
