Atlanta Art Fair's International Artist Spotlight on Brandon Reis
One Contemporary Gallery and Gerber Fine Art, will present the first U.S. solo exhibition of Brazilian artist Brendon Reis. Set for the 2026 Atlanta Art Fair, the artist’s stateside solo debut will take place during the fair, from Thursday, October 1 – Sunday, October 4, 2026.

Backyard of Time by Brandon Reis
Born in Salvador, Bahia in 1996, and now based in São Paulo, Reis has emerged as a distinctive voice in a new generation of Brazilian figurative painters. His psychologically charged paintings center Black figures within spaces that move fluidly between the familiar and the surreal, exploring identity, intimacy, sexuality, desire and the complexities of human existence. In recent years, Reis has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in the National Museum of Afro-Brazilian Culture, the National Museum of Fine Art, and Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) Arte in Brazil. As a self-taught visual artist, Reis reflects on seeing his work exhibited alongside important Brazilian artists including Rubem Valentim, Mestre Didi, and Emanoel Araújo with a mixture of "pride, responsibility and belonging."

Passion Red by Brandon Reis
The works that will be presented in Atlanta form a cohesive body of recent paintings and provide a stunning introduction to Afro-Brazilian aesthetics and contemporary Brazilian figurative painting for U.S. audiences. Drawing from the visual and cultural traditions of Bahia as well as his experience as a black Brazilian artist—a dialogue forms between Brazil and Atlanta, “Two places with profound, yet distinctly different histories of black culture, creativity, and identity coming together.” For Gerber Fine Art and One Contemporary Gallery, Reis's U.S. solo debut is more than the presentation of a new international artist. It is an opportunity to introduce Atlanta, one of America's most important centers of Black cultural life, to a contemporary Afro-Brazilian perspective.
Brendon’s travel to Atlanta for the exhibition, and artist talk at One Contemporary Gallery (October 2nd at 7:30pm)—presents a unique opportunity for art enthusiasts, collectors, and artists to participate in an immersive art and cultural exchange.
