"Violet Verve" by Tiffany Gholar

Tiffany Gholar is a Chicago based artist working in a variety of media. She has three primary bodies of work: The Doll Project, Post-Consumerism, and Recessionism. Tiffany studied art as an undergraduate at the University of Chicago and interior design at Harrington College of Design and holds a Master’s Degree in Painting from Governors State University.

Her art has been exhibited in several Chicago area venues, including group shows at The Chicago Children's Museum and the Chicago Center for Green Technology, and solo exhibitions at the Harold Washington Library and The Adler School for Professional Psychology. When she is not painting, she works as a freelance interior designer and receptionist. She is also a three-time game show contestant and has competed on Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and The Chase.

"I find things with interesting textures and think, I want to make something out of that. The objects I find are often otherwise useless: containers, packing materials, packaging, paint that dried on my palette.  They are  the residue of our disposable, one-time-use material culture.  By making art with these objects, I imbue  impermanent things with a new sense of permanence and purpose.  From the rhythmic interplay of light and shadow on corrugated cardboard, the dreamlike diaphanous nature of plastic shopping bags, the brilliant hues of the bottles that make our packaged beverages seem all the more appealing, every assemblage in the series is infused with its own peculiar beauty.  And I call this style of working with the by-products of the products we buy Post-Consumerism."

Please note that we will not ship your order until we've received payment from you. You will receive a shipment confirmation when your order has shipped with the tracking details. Upon the delivery of your shipment, a signature is requested.
