DAVID C. DRISKELL CENTER TO PRESENT : PORTRAITS OF WHO WE ARE
Thursday, February 1st – Friday, May 18th, 2018
There are relatively few exhibitions of self-portraits by African American artists; this exhibition has been developed to address the ways in which African American artists portray themselves, their communities, and their culture. Portraits provide the viewing audience with documentation of the existence of the subject and the cultural and social setting, while revealing multiple aspects of a deeper view of our collective human evolution and shared humanity.
Please join us on Thursday, Februay 1st for the opening reception of Portraits of Who We Are. The opening reception will be from 5-7pm and will feature a performance by DC-based artist Sheldon Scott titled How I Survived My Suicide.
The opening reception is free and open to the public. Wine, along with light refreshments, will be served. Live music by Cheek to Cheek.
The Driskell Center Gallery’s hours are Monday through Friday from 11AM to 4PM with extended hours on Wednesday until 6PM.
