Karen Powell is a fine artist who has come full circle with her ‘visual’ voice. Trained as a fine artist with a BA from Fisk University before going onto the University of Chicago for graduate study. After an extensive career as a graphic designer and art director in Boston, MA she has returned to her passion...the fine arts. Powell has exhibited in diverse galleries throughout the country.
 

My work is a constant search to best interpret the ideas I have about things that motivate me to create.
Growing up in an urban environment has inspired me to reflect on childhood experiences in my work. I create mixed-media collage paintings using vintage photographs, in a very contemporary way. This work has a very personal and intimate appeal and is well received by diverse audiences.

My abstract series represents my creative ‘alter ego’. It is a departure from the traditional mixed media work but ironically, these abstracts have always existed in my work as a foundation for my mixed media images. My abstracts now stand alone vibrating and swirling in a very deliberate way.

As an artist I continue to challenge my edge. I enjoy exploring multiple genres. Nothing thrills me more than when one of my pieces speaks to someone in a very personal and profound way...that's what challenges and inspires me to continue this journey.

Also please make sure your shipping address information is complete and accurate with your first and last name, full address, unit, suite or apartment number, valid phone number and email address.  Shipments can only be sent to an actual street address.  There are NO DELIVERIES to post office boxes. Please note that we will not ship your order until we've received payment from you. You will receive a shipment confirmation when your order has shipped with the tracking details. Upon the delivery of your shipment, a signature is requested.

Orders are shipped via UPS Ground or FedEx and the generally expected delivery time is within 2-8 business days, depending on the state being shipped to.
